Implementation of Transition Metal Phosphides as Pt-Free Catalysts for PEM Water Electrolysis

چکیده

Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) water electrolysis (WE) produces H2 with a high degree of purity, requiring only and energy. If the energy is provided from renewable sources, it releases “Green H2”, CO2-free H2. PEMWE uses expensive rare noble metal catalysts, which hinder their use at large industrial scale. In this work, electrocatalytic properties Transition Metal Phosphides (TMP) catalysts supported on Carbon Black (CB) for Hydrogen Evolution Reaction (HER) were investigated as an alternative to Platinum Group Metals. The physico-chemical catalytic performance synthesized characterized. ex situ experiments, 25% FeP/CB, 50% FeP/CB CoP/CB overpotentials −156.0, −165.9 −158.5 mV current density 100 mA cm−2 showed best properties, thereby progressing tests. those tests, required overpotential 252 10 cm−2, quite close 220 Pt catalyst. This work provides proper approach synthesis characterization TMP carbon materials HER, paving way further research in order replace currently used PGM PEMWE.

Dissymmetric dinuclear transition metal complexes as dual site catalysts for the polymerization of ethylene

A series of dissymmetric dinuclear complexes were synthesized, as dual site catalysts in ethylene polymerization, by coupling the allylated a-diimine complexes of the metals Ti, Zr, V, Ni and Pd with the ansa-zirconocene complex [C5H4-SiH(Me)-C5H4]ZrCl2 possessing a hydride silane moiety. The different stages of syntheses included the formation of bis(cyclopentadienide)methyl silane which was u...

Probing Transition-Metal Silicides as PGM-Free Catalysts for Hydrogen Oxidation and Evolution in Acidic Medium

In this experimental study, we investigate various transition-metal silicides as platinum-group-metal-(PGM)-free electrocatalysts for the hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR), and for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in acidic environment for the first time. Using cyclic voltammetry in 0.1 M HClO₄, we first demonstrate that the tested materials exhibit sufficient stability against dissolution...

Effect of Pt on Zn-Free Cu-Al Catalysts for Methanol Steam Reforming to Produce Hydrogen

Steam reforming of methanol can be considered as an attractive reaction aiming at hydrogen production for PEM fuel cells. Although Cu/Al-contained catalysts are considerably evaluated in this reaction, further evaluation is essential to evaluate the impact of some promoters like Pt in order to find a comprehensively optimized catalyst. Pt promoter is employed with different methods in this ...
